Super Deal on GPS
My GPS (currently a Mio 310x, bought on a whim at a Black Friday sale several years ago) turned out to be one of my favorite gadgets, simply for all the time it saves me. I live in a major metropolitan area and while I know my way around fairly well, it never ceases to surprise me with time-saving shortcuts and extremely accurate directions in unfamiliar locations. The only thing I was missing was real-time traffic updates – something I could desperately use on my 45 minute commute to and from work.
I was so excited to head over to The Cheapskate (one of the many CNET.com blogs I read) and find this great deal from Newegg.com on a Navigon 2100max 4.3″ Portable Navigation for $89 shipped. This unit includes FREE lifetime traffic updates – if you’ve been shopping for a GPS lately, you know how huge this is. Most units charge a monthly fee on top of the initial cost – often being $10 a month or more. Needless to say, I snapped this up right away!
One caveat – it is “recertified” (aka refurbished), but Newegg.com does offer a 30 day refund and 1 year replacement policy, so I wasn’t deterred.
**Update – I got my Navigon in one day (!) from Newegg.com – free shipping has never come so fast!
